Kerrie Gibson from TBS Morley with Mary Hutton, the founder of Free the Bears FundThis is a story about one store that made a difference. Some call it corporate social responsibility. We call it being part of our community.
Everyone is part of a community whether you like it or not. It's up to you to decide how you're going to participate, whether to be selfish, selfless or somewhere in-between.
I'd like to highlight some of the recent successes made by our Morley store in their local community in Perth.
They were so enthusiastic about our Break the Silence on Domestic Violence campaign they sold their allocation of 30 Lip Care Duo Sticks (with all proceeds going to White Ribbon) in the first three days (first in the country). They managed to somehow grab another 30 from other Perth stores and sold them by the end of the campaign too! They've also distributed most of their mini info cards, including the left overs to refuge centres in Redcliffe and Carlisle.
In addition, on the 1st of July the volunteer hours we have to spend in our local community was reset. Based on the number of full and part time staff, the Morley store had 56 hours. Guess what? They've already spent them all! They have helped promote and fund raise for the Free the Bears Fund and held a pamper day (hand massages and make overs) for Perth foster carers through the Foster Care Association.Congratulations The Body Shop Morley! You are an inspiration!
