My name is Charlie. I think I am 5 years old. Six weeks ago, I was rescued from a puppy farm in Gippsland. I think I have been there all my life as I am not toilet trained, and I don't know how to sit, come, stay, etc. I was used for breeding puppies to be sold to pet shops.
The people at the puppy farm did not look after me well.
I had a very bad eye infection that was never treated, and when I was taken to the RSPCA they had to remove my eye.
I also had very bad tartar on my teeth, I had to have a tooth removed as it was rotten, and I had a double ear infection.
I am overweight from bad food, which would have also contributed to my teeth problem. Being overweight is very hazardous to my health as my legs are very short, and excess weight can cause lots of problems.
I am a shy girl but very loving. I don't know why they treated me like this. I tried to make them love me at the puppy farm but they didn't care, they didn't take any notice of me.
Now I am in a home with 2 other dogs and some cats. I get lots of love, and I even have my own bed. My owners pat me, play with me and hug me. They look after me.
What does a dog look like who has never seen grass, much less a park?
I am one of the lucky ones. I was allowed to be rescued because I needed urgent veterinary care for my eye. Most of my friends are still at the puppy farm. They will probably die there.
Never buy a puppy from a pet shop. They may look cute in the window but they have come from a puppy farm, like the one I was at. Tell the Government we want Oscar's Law. Visit http://www.oscarslaw.org for more information.
