How to Exfoliate
Why Not Just Use a Scrub?
Exfoliation from the Neck Down
Just like brushing your teeth, there are some parts of your skincare regime that aren’t up for debate. Enter, exfoliation. Exfoliation is kind of an unsung hero of the skincare world. Often people (yes you!) may be exfoliating incorrectly and in doing so may actually be doing more harm to their delicate skin. Exfoliation in skincare has come a long way in recent years. Skin peels sound pretty scary but are now one of the gentlest ways to effectively exfoliate the skin.
You say why, we say you must!
Did you know that our skin naturally exfoliates? Yep, but sadly like a lot of things (wrinkles anyone?) this process of shedding skin slows and in some cases comes to a complete stop. Other skin issues like sun damage and oily skin can also play a big part in inhibiting this natural process. This leaves our skin looking tired, blemished, wrinkly, bumpy and lumpy. Exfoliation, put simply, will address all of these concerns and more, revealing a new you!
But how do I exfoliate properly? I’m confused.
If using a liquid exfoliant, like Drops of Youth™ Liquid Peel or Vitamin C Glow-Revealing Peel follow these top tips!
Apply your Liquid Peel post cleansing. Dispense 2 pumps onto fingertips and massage onto face for up to 20 seconds until exfoliating ‘residues’ appear noticeably and are peeled off. Rinse thoroughly with water.
Be careful using it near your eye area. Do not use it on the eyelid or directly under the eye.
How often you exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. We recommend 2-3 times a week but pay attention to your skin and adjust where necessary.
I love my scrub! Why can’t I just use that?
Products like Drops of Youth™ Liquid Peel and Vitamin C Glow-Revealing Peel will revolutionise the way you exfoliate. Whilst some scrubs can be really effective, often many are too abrasive and scratchy on the skin. Peels offer a more gentle solution. As they sit on the skin a little longer than traditional scrubs, they have the added benefit of infusing the skin with other potent extracts and antioxidants. Winning!
Don’t forget your neck…
You can (and should) exfoliate your neck and décolletage. Why? Because ageing and other skin issues aren’t limited to the face. The neck ages and experiences a host of skin issues worthy of your attention. Although the approach is somewhat different don’t forget your body too!
Our Drops of Youth™ Liquid Peel is the new superstar in our Drops of Youth™ collection. We have also introduced a radiance infusing opition in our Vitamin C collection, Vitamin C Glow-Revealing Peel If you prefer a traditional scrub try these gentle options.
